'iPhone Pocket' Costs $230, Looks Like a Sock A lot of people are making fun of a new Apple product that was introduced on November 11. Called the iPhone Pocket, Apple's new product is a knitted cloth bag designed to hold an iPhone and other small items. The fashion label Issey Miyake helped design the new accessory, which Apple has described as "a beautiful way to wear and carry" an iPhone. However, a lot of people online have said that the iPhone Pocket looks very much like a sock. Many have also said the iPhone Pocket is too expensive. The accessory, which comes in two designs, costs $150 for one with a short strap, and $230 for one with a long strap. The Washington Post, for example, asked, "Would you buy a $230 sock?" And the Daily Mail said even people who were normally fans of Apple products were asking why they should pay "hundreds of dollars for a sock with a hole in it." The Verge also pointed out that when Apple introduced a similar product for iPods back in 2004, it was called the iPod Sock, it only cost $29, and Apple cofounder Steve Jobs actually made a joke about it. However, the makers of the iPhone Pocket seem to be taking their new product very seriously. Yoshiyuki Miyamae of Miyake Design Studio said that people who buy the product can experience "the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way." The iPhone Pocket comes in eight colors for the short-strap design, and three colors for the long strap. It became available to buy in a number of countries — including China, Japan, South Korea, the UK and the US — on November 14.
